For the 2008-2009 award year (July 1, 2008 - June 30, 2009) awards range from $890 to $4731. How much you will get depends, not only on your financial need, but on your cost of attending school, whether you are a full-time or part-time student, and whether you attend school for a full academic year or less.
Federal Pell Grant funds will be applied directly to your education costs. Triangle Tech will notify you in writing how and when you will be paid and how much your award will be. Federal Pell Grant funds will be disbursed once per term.

A Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants does not have to be repaid, unless you fail to complete your period of enrollment. This grant is for undergraduate students with exceptional financial need.
At Triangle Tech, you can receive between $100 and $600 a year if you qualify, depending on when you apply, your level of need, and the funding available at the school.

Federal programs for people with special circumstances, if you qualify:
The Federal government sponsors several programs for students with special circumstances. While your financial aid advisor can direct you to the appropriate programs for your needs, the following programs are commonly available:
VA Dependent Educational Assistance Program
The VA Dependent's Educational Assistance program provides benefits to students who have a parent who has a permanent disability or has died as a result of service in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Vocational Rehabilitation Program
The Vocational Rehabilitation program provides financial aid and support services to students with hearing, sight, and other disabilities.
Loan Programs
Federal Loans
Federal Perkins Loans
A Federal Perkins Loan is a low interest (5%) loan for students with exceptional financial need. Your school is your lender and the loan is made with government funds. You must repay this loan to your school.
Triangle Tech has established a maximum award of $4,000 and a minimum award of $300 per academic year.
Triangle Tech will apply Federal Perkins funds directly to your school costs. We will tell you in writing how and when you will be paid and how much your award will be. Federal Perkins loan funds will be disbursed once per term.
Direct and FFEL Stafford Loans
Direct and FFEL Stafford Loans are the Department of Education's two major loan programs. The Direct Stafford Loan program disburses funds directly from the federal government. The Federal Family Education Loan program (FFEL Stafford) disburses funds from a bank, credit union or other lender that participates in the FFEL Stafford program.
If you're a dependent undergraduate student, you can borrow up to the following amounts:
- $5,500 if you're a first year student enrolled in a program of study that is at least a full academic year. (At least $2,000 of this amount must be in unsubsidized loans.)
- $6,500 if you've completed your first year of study and the remainder of your program is at least a full academic year. (At least $2,000 of this amount must be in unsubsidized loans.)
- If you're an independent undergraduate student or a dependent student whose parents are unable to get a plus loan you can borrow up to:
- $9,500 if you're a first year student enrolled in a program of study that is at least a full academic year. (At least $6,000 of this amount must be in unsubsidized loans.)
- $10,500 if you've completed your first year of study and the remainder of your program is at least a full academic year. (At least $6,000 of this amount must be in unsubsidized loans.)
The interest rate effective on 7/1/08 for all new federal Stafford loans is a fixed rate of 6.0‰.
After you graduate, leave school, or drop below half-time enrollment, you have six months before you must begin repayment. This is called a grace period. During your grace period, you'll receive information about repayment and will be notified of the date repayment begins. However, you are responsible for beginning repayment on time, even if you don't receive this information. Payments are usually due monthly.
Federal PLUS Loans
Parents who do not have a bad credit history can borrow a PLUS Loan to pay the education expenses of a child who is dependent student enrolled at least half time in an eligible program at an eligible school.
To be eligible for a PLUS loan, your parents will be required to pass a credit check. A parent can not be turned down for having no credit history, only for having an adverse one. If your parents don't pass the credit check, they might still be able to receive a loan if someone, such as a relative or friend who is able to pass the credit check, agrees to co-sign the loan. A co-signer promises to repay the loan if your parents fail to do so. Your parents might also qualify for a loan even if they don't pass the credit check as long as they can demonstrate that extenuating circumstances exist.
The yearly limit on a PLUS Loan is equal to your cost of attendance minus any other financial aid you get.
The interest rate effective 7/1/08 for all new federal PLUS loans is a fixed rate of 8.5‰.
The first payment is due within 60 days after the final loan disbursement for the year. There is no grace period for these loans. Interest begins to accumulate at the time the first disbursement is made, and your parents will begin repaying both principal and interest while you are in school.
The Interest Free Installment Payment Plan(IPP)
Installment Payment Plan (IPP)
Triangle Tech's IPP Plan enables you to make regularly scheduled monthly payments of all or a portion of your tuition and fees free of interest or finance charges. In addition, IPP allows you to determine how much of your tuition, fees, books and supplies you want to pay in installments. This feature affords you the ability to budget costs as best fits your personal circumstances. The sooner you get started, the lower your monthly payments.
