Our Promise To You

Our Promise

You've made a decision to get an education, and we promise to work with you to develop a personal financing plan to cover the cost of your education. That means tuition, books, fees, supplies -- everything you'll need to invest in your future.

We're so sure we can help you that we make this promise: If we're unable to develop your personal financing plan, we'll refund any payments you've made before starting school.

Financial Aid for Students

Our Financial Aid department specializes in making it as easy as possible for you to afford your training. For many students, that means helping to identify financial aid sources like student loans, grants, payment plans and scholarship programs.

Direct and FFEL Stafford Loans

Direct and FFEL Stafford Loans are the Department of Education's two major student loan programs. The Direct Stafford Loan program disburses funds directly from the federal government. The Federal Family Education Loan program (FFEL Stafford) disburses funds from a bank, credit union or other lender that participates in the FFEL Stafford program.

If you're a dependent undergraduate student, you can borrow up to the following amounts:

If you're an independent undergraduate student or a dependent student whose parents are unable to get a PLUS loan you can borrow up to:

The interest rate effective on 7/1/09 for all new federal subsidized Stafford loans is a fixed rate of 5.6%.

The interest rate effective on 7/1/09 for all new federal unsubsidized Stafford loans is a fixed rate of 6.8%.

After you graduate, leave school, or drop below half-time enrollment, you have six months before you must begin repayment of this type of student loan. This is called a grace period. During your grace period, you'll receive information about repayment and will be notified of the date repayment begins. However, you are responsible for beginning repayment on time, even if you don't receive this information. Payments are usually due monthly.

Federal PLUS Loans

Parents who do not have a bad credit history can borrow a PLUS Loan to pay the education expenses of a child who is dependent student enrolled at least half time in an eligible program at an eligible school.

To be eligible for a PLUS loan, your parents will be required to pass a credit check. A parent can not be turned down for having no credit history, only for having an adverse one. If your parents don't pass the credit check, they might still be able to receive a loan if someone, such as a relative or friend who is able to pass the credit check, agrees to co-sign the loan. A co-signer promises to repay the loan if your parents fail to do so. Your parents might also qualify for a loan even if they don't pass the credit check as long as they can demonstrate that extenuating circumstances exist.

The yearly limit on a PLUS Loan is equal to your cost of attendance minus any other student financial aid you get.

The interest rate effective 7/1/09 for all new federal FFEL PLUS loans is a fixed rate of 8.5%.

The first payment is due within 60 days after the final loan disbursement for the year. There is no grace period for these studentloans. Interest begins to accumulate at the time the first disbursement is made, and your parents will begin repaying both principal and interest while you are in school.  Your parent may contact the lender regarding annual deferment options that may be available while you are enrolled in a post-secondary institution.

Alternative Loans

It is Triangle Tech’s recommendation that this financing option be used only after you have completed the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid and have exhausted all Federal and State financial assistance, including but not limited to, grants, which you do not have to repay, and federal subsidized and/or unsubsidized loans and/or PLUS loans through the Federal Family Education Loan Program or the Direct Loan Program, which you do have to repay.

If you choose to borrow an alternative loan in addition to the Federal Stafford Subsidized and Unsubsidized loan(s) which you have borrowed or will borrow under the Federal Family Educational Loan Program (FFELP), this loan will require an additional, separate repayment plan with terms and conditions different from the terms and conditions of the loans which you have borrowed under the FFELP program. Therefore, we encourage you to carefully consider the amount of loan funds you request - borrow wisely. Your eligibility for loan funds will be determined based upon your enrollment status at Triangle Tech, the loan period, the educational costs for the loan period and the anticipated and/or received financial aid resources you will have for the loan period.

For a copy of the Private Education Loan Applicant Self-Certification Form please click here.  If you are considering an alternative loan as a financing resource, your Triangle Tech Financial Aid Advisor will complete Section 2 of this form.  You will then need to provide this form to your lender.
